If you are allergic to a molecule found in a whole allergen like an apple you are also likely to react to other foods and some pollens containing that same molecule, resulting in similar unpleasant symptoms.
If a molecular allergy is identified the good news is that many of these molecules are not stable and can be "inactivated" by processing them.
