Dr Tristan Ramcharan
Tristan is a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist in the world-renowned cardiac unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He is fully trained in advanced imaging including echocardiography and sees patients from newborns to young adulthood. Tristan is confident in managing a wide range of heart problems in children, including heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, and fainting. His philosophy is having a family-centric approach, understanding the needs of both the child and parents, and his clear and empathetic communication is key to his practice. Having young twins himself, he understands the anxiety and stress that comes with being a parent and needing medical care, and for this reason he has been instrumental in setting up the cardiology service at The Vesey Private Hospital. Tristan is passionate about sport, exercise, and cardiac rehabilitation, and has recently finished an MSc in Sport Cardiology from St George’s University London. He can undertake cardiovascular screening to detect potential causes of sudden cardiac death in athletic individuals, young athletes and those involved in competitive sport. With his expertise in paediatric sport cardiology, Tristan has recently been appointed to the English Football Association’s Sport Cardiology Expert Panel. Dr Ramcharan is a listed faculty member for AEPC 2026, the congress of the Association for European Paediatric and Congenital Cardiology.

What to expect
Your appointment starts with a conversation — your symptoms, your history, and what matters to you about sorting it out. Bring a list of any medication you take, and any recent test results or letters from other clinicians if you have them.
You will leave knowing what Tristan thinks is going on, what — if anything — needs investigating, and what happens next. If you need tests, imaging or a follow-up, we will arrange it before you leave, and write to your GP if you would like us to.
Booking and referrals
You can book online, and you do not need a GP referral for a self-pay appointment. If you are using private medical insurance, your insurer will usually ask for a referral first — see how insurance works at The Vesey. Fees for every service are on our price list, and consultant fees are set out on our consultant fees page.
