What it is
15 or 30-minute consultation by secure video or phone with a GMC-registered GP. Suitable for prescription needs, sick certificates, results interpretation, mental health support, lifestyle advice and follow-up of established conditions. Not suitable for examinations, joint injections or anything needing a face-to-face encounter.

How we investigate
Structured history-taking; where examination is needed we will recommend a face-to-face follow-up. Onward investigation (bloods, imaging) arranged where appropriate.

What conditions can be managed in a virtual GP appointment? +
Most conditions not requiring physical examination: prescription renewals, sick certificates, blood test and scan result interpretation, mood and anxiety management, travel health advice, minor illness symptom advice, and lifestyle review. Complex new symptoms or anything needing examination will be directed to a face-to-face appointment.
Can I get a prescription from a virtual GP at The Vesey? +
Yes. GMC-registered GPs at The Vesey can issue electronic prescriptions for most medications, subject to clinical appropriateness. Controlled drugs require an in-person consultation. Prescriptions are £15 per item and can be sent to a pharmacy of your choice or by delivery.
What happens if I need a physical examination during a virtual appointment? +
The GP will discuss self-examination techniques where appropriate and may ask you to photograph skin lesions or take a home blood pressure reading. If a hands-on examination is genuinely needed, we will arrange a face-to-face appointment at The Vesey or with a partner clinician.
Is my virtual GP appointment confidential and documented? +
Yes. Virtual consultations are conducted on a secure encrypted platform. A clinical record is made after every consultation. With your consent, we will write to your NHS GP to keep your records up to date. Consultations are not routinely recorded.
