NHS Outsourcing — New Capacity at Our 7-Day Hospital

When your estate is full even at weekends, insourcing can't help — you need new rooms. The Vesey takes outsourced NHS activity across all medical and surgical services at our CQC-registered hospital in Sutton Coldfield: outpatient clinics, diagnostics and local-anaesthetic day-case procedures, with consultant-led teams, 7-day opening and a booking team that contacts every patient directly. Your list gets shorter; your patients stay NHS patients throughout.

NHS outsourcing means transferring part of your waiting list to an external provider's own site, where care is delivered using the provider's facilities and clinical teams. Your trust keeps ownership of the pathway and receives every result and outcome back — the provider adds wholly new physical capacity your estate doesn't have. At The Vesey, outsourced NHS patients are seen at our CQC-registered, 7-day hospital in Sutton Coldfield, free at the point of care, with no private upselling — ever.

Care at The Vesey is delivered under our CQC registration (location 1-11527097165) by consultant-led teams with full indemnity, rated 4.87/5 from 700+ verified patient reviews on Doctify — with data-processing agreements and results flows back to your trust documented before the first patient transfers.

Why trusts are buying new capacity

The waiting list is falling, but slowly — and the constitutional standard is still years of sustained extra activity away. When internal initiatives and insourcing have already consumed the spare estate, outsourcing is the remaining lever that adds capacity rather than reshuffling it.

Independent-sector capacity is explicitly part of the national elective recovery approach. The question isn't whether to use it — it's whether your provider is accountable, local and easy for your patients to actually get to.

What The Vesey can take off your list

Outpatient clinics — all specialties

New and follow-up appointments across all medical and surgical services: cardiology, dermatology, gynaecology, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, vascular and general surgery, gastroenterology, rheumatology, endocrinology, paediatrics, pain management, respiratory medicine and more.

Diagnostics, on-site

Echocardiography (BSE-accredited physiologists, consultant-reported), 12-lead ECG, 24-hour Holter and ambulatory BP, spirometry, audiometry, consultant- and sonographer-led ultrasound (MSK, abdominal, pelvic, vascular Doppler) and ophthalmic diagnostics including OCT.

Procedures under local anaesthetic — day case

Consultant-led surgical and procedural lists delivered as day cases under local anaesthetic: skin lesion and lipoma excision, carpal tunnel release, joint and image-guided injections, colposcopy and hysteroscopy, ear-wax and ENT procedures and more — in dedicated procedure rooms.

Bloods & imaging pathways

Phlebotomy on-site with results in about 48 hours, processed at accredited NHS laboratories. MRI pathway (1.5T, from £325 per body part) through our imaging partnership, with in-house referral generation.

Honest scope: all medical and surgical services on an outpatient and day-case basis — with procedures under local anaesthetic only. We don't take general-anaesthetic, inpatient or overnight cohorts, and we'll tell you straight away if a cohort doesn't fit rather than mobilise something that fails. Need GA lists cleared? That's the insourcing case — our teams run them in your own theatres.

Outsourcing vs insourcing — which do you need?

The deciding question is almost always: what's your binding constraint? If it's workforce, insource. If it's estate, outsource. If it's both, blend.

The patient journey, step by step

Designed so your patients experience it as a better-run NHS appointment — not a hand-off into the unknown.

1 · Agree the cohort

Specialty, pathway point, clinical criteria and exclusions agreed with your specialty and operational leads — plus volumes, timescale and what gets reported back.

2 · Contract & governance

Cost-per-case terms on NHS-funded patient principles. IG, data-processing and clinical-responsibility boundaries documented before the first patient transfers.

3 · Transfer & booking

You send the agreed list; our booking team phones every patient, offers evening and weekend slots across 7 days, and manages reminders and rebooking.

4 · Seen at The Vesey

Consultant-led appointment at our Sutton Coldfield hospital — free parking, on-site diagnostics, same-visit bloods where needed. Free at the point of care, no upselling.

5 · Results & reporting back

Letters, results and outcome decisions returned to agreed timescales, with weekly activity and RTT-impact reporting and a monthly board-ready summary.

Governance, quality & patient experience

Our registration, our accountability

Outsourced care is delivered under The Vesey's CQC registration (location 1-11527097165) and clinical governance — consultant-led teams, full indemnity, structured incident reporting and a named clinical lead for the programme.

NHS patients, NHS principles

Free at the point of care, no private upselling, onward-care recommendations flow back through the NHS pathway agreed with your team. Your patients never receive an invoice from us.

Information governance

Data-processing agreements and UK GDPR-compliant transfer mechanisms agreed at contracting. Records and results return to the trust as pathway owner; our labs pathway already runs through accredited NHS laboratories.

An experience patients rate

4.87/5 from 700+ verified Doctify reviews, 7-day opening, evening slots for working patients, free on-site parking and a booking team that answers the phone. Patient experience is the DNA-rate strategy.

Why The Vesey rather than a national chain?

Local by design

Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham and Solihull ICB catchment — easy to reach from across the West Midlands, with free parking. Patients actually attend, which is the whole point.

7-day operating is our normal

We already run 8am–8pm, seven days. Evening and weekend NHS clinics aren't a special programme for us — they're Tuesday.

One partner, both models

Outsource to our site, insource into yours, or blend — from a single relationship and governance conversation, flexed quarter by quarter.

Consultant-led decisions

Senior decision-makers in every clinic mean higher discharge and treat rates per attendance — fewer patients bounced back to your list for a second opinion.

Transparent cost-per-case

No set-up fees, no minimum-volume traps. Pricing built to sit inside elective recovery funding, quoted against your actual cohort.

NHS outsourcing — frequently asked questions

What is NHS outsourcing?

NHS outsourcing is when a trust transfers part of its waiting list to an external provider's own site, where care is delivered using the provider's facilities and clinical teams. The trust keeps ownership of the pathway and receives results and outcomes back; the provider adds wholly new physical capacity. At The Vesey, outsourced NHS patients are seen at our CQC-registered hospital in Sutton Coldfield.

How is outsourcing different from insourcing?

Outsourcing moves patients to our site — new rooms, new kit, new teams. Insourcing brings our teams into your facilities out of hours. Estate constrained → outsource. Workforce constrained → insource. Both → blend, from one relationship.

What activity can you take?

All medical and surgical services on an outpatient and day-case basis: clinics across every specialty; on-site diagnostics (echo, ECG, Holter, ambulatory BP, spirometry, audiometry, ultrasound, OCT); phlebotomy with ~48-hour results via accredited NHS laboratories; and procedures under local anaesthetic, delivered as day cases. An MRI pathway runs through our imaging partnership. We don't take GA, inpatient or overnight cohorts — and we'll say so up front if a cohort doesn't fit.

Where are patients seen?

The Vesey, Unit 3, The Courtyard, Maney Hill Road, Sutton Coldfield B75 7BU — Birmingham and Solihull ICB catchment, open 7 days 8am–8pm, free on-site parking.

How fast can clinics start?

Days to weeks from contract signature for outpatient and diagnostic cohorts. There's no estate build, no honorary contracts and no PAS template work on your side — the critical path is the data agreement and the transfer list.

How are NHS patients treated at a private hospital?

As NHS patients: free at the point of care, on NHS-funded patient principles, with no private upselling. Onward-care recommendations flow back through the NHS pathway agreed with your team. Your patients never receive an invoice from us.

Who is clinically responsible?

Care at The Vesey is delivered under our CQC registration and clinical governance, with consultant-led teams and full indemnity. Clinical responsibility during the episode sits with us; pathway ownership stays with you — boundaries documented in the contract before the first transfer.

How does booking work?

You send the agreed cohort list; our booking team phones every patient, offers evening and weekend slots across 7 days, sends reminders and manages rebooking. Out-of-hours choice plus a phone line that's actually answered is why DNA rates on outsourced cohorts stay low.

How do results get back to us?

Letters, diagnostic reports and outcome decisions returned to agreed timescales and formats, plus weekly activity reporting (contacted, booked, seen, DNA, outcomes, RTT impact) and a monthly board-ready summary.

What does it cost?

Cost-per-case agreed against the applicable tariff, designed to sit within elective recovery funding envelopes — no set-up fees. (Insourcing into your own trust is offered from 80% of NHS tariff.) Download the Capacity & Pricing Pack (PDF) or book a capacity call for pricing against your actual cohort.

Which NHS trusts have you worked with?

Our consultants and clinical teams have delivered NHS services with George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS FT, University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire, University Hospitals of Leicester and Hull University Teaching Hospitals.

Is patient data handled safely?

Yes — data-processing agreements, UK GDPR-compliant handling and secure transfer mechanisms are agreed at contracting, and records return to the trust as pathway owner. Our labs pathway already runs through accredited NHS laboratories.

Which areas do you serve?

Birmingham and Solihull, the Black Country, Coventry and Warwickshire, Staffordshire and the wider West Midlands. Central location and free parking keep attendance high across the region.

Can we blend outsourcing with insourcing?

Yes — insourced evening/weekend sessions in your hospital where estate allows, outsourced cohorts at The Vesey where it doesn't. One relationship, one governance conversation, flexed quarter by quarter.
