Private Cardiologist in Sutton Coldfield
One-stop cardiac assessment with consultant cardiologists from major Birmingham teaching hospitals. ECG, echocardiogram and 24-hour Holter monitoring — typically all in one visit. From £300, no GP referral required.
Cardiac symptoms — palpitations, breathlessness, chest pain, dizzy spells — demand more than a 10-minute conversation. At The Vesey, a one-stop cardiac assessment with consultant cardiologist, resting ECG, transthoracic echocardiogram and blood pressure review can be completed in a single 60-minute visit. Most patients leave with a clear diagnosis, a written plan and same-day investigations underway.

From our consultant
"Palpitations and chest discomfort are common, scary, and almost always benign — but you only know that for sure after the right tests have been done by someone qualified to interpret them. Our one-stop clinic exists to give that answer in one visit, not three."
Dr Sunil Nadar · Consultant Cardiologist, The Vesey
When palpitations need a cardiologist
Palpitations are one of the commonest reasons for private cardiology referral and one of the most under-investigated symptoms in primary care. You should see a cardiologist if:
- Palpitations occur during or immediately after exertion
- Palpitations are associated with dizziness, near-syncope or syncope
- Family history of sudden cardiac death under age 50
- You have known heart disease or hypertension
- Episodes last more than a few minutes or recur multiple times per week
- Associated chest pain or significant breathlessness
A 24-hour Holter monitor is often the single most useful test — a small device taped to the chest that records every heartbeat for a day or longer. If episodes are infrequent, a 7-day recorder or implantable loop may be needed. We arrange whichever is appropriate at the first visit.
Hypertension — beyond the GP cuff
Around 30% of UK adults have high blood pressure. Many are diagnosed and treated on a handful of clinic readings, but around 20% of those started on medication have white-coat hypertension — normal at home but raised in clinic.
The right way to confirm hypertension is 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), £180 inclusive. The cuff records every 30 minutes by day and 60 minutes at night, giving full daytime average, nocturnal dipping pattern and overall load.
If confirmed, we manage hypertension to NICE guidance — selecting medication for your age and ethnicity, screening for secondary causes, and addressing CV risk holistically (lipids, weight, exercise, alcohol).
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private cardiologist cost in Sutton Coldfield?
Initial 45-minute consultation £300. Our most popular package — one-stop cardiac assessment with consultation, ECG and echocardiogram in a single 60-minute visit — is £550. Follow-ups £220. Holter monitoring £280 inclusive.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Book directly. Any previous ECGs, scan reports or medication lists are helpful to bring.
How quickly can I be seen?
Most patients within 7 days; same-week routine. For symptoms suggesting possible acute cardiac concern we prioritise within 24–48 hours.
Should I go to A&E or book a private cardiologist?
If chest pain is severe, prolonged (>15 minutes), associated with sweating, breathlessness or radiating to arm/jaw — call 999. Private cardiology is for stable, planned assessment.
What's in the one-stop cardiac assessment?
45-minute consultant consultation, 12-lead ECG, transthoracic echocardiogram, written report — all in one visit, £550.
Will the cardiologist write to my GP?
Yes with consent. Detailed letter sent within 48 hours including findings, interpretations and recommendations.
Can you arrange a CT coronary angiogram?
Yes — referred to accredited imaging in Birmingham, typically 1–2 weeks. Total cost £750–950 inclusive of consultant report.
Do you do athlete / pre-participation screening?
Yes. ECG and echo interpreted to international athlete consensus criteria. Recommended for serious athletes, particularly with family history of sudden cardiac death.
Are pacemaker / ICD checks available?
Not on-site. Clinical review continues here but device interrogation remains with your implanting centre or via remote monitoring.
Does insurance cover cardiology?
Bupa, Vitality, AXA Health, Aviva, WPA and Healix routinely cover. Pre-authorisation is generally needed for echo and Holter.
