Private Fibroid Removal (Myomectomy) in Sutton Coldfield
Laparoscopic or open myomectomy to remove uterine fibroids whilst preserving the uterus. For women with heavy bleeding, pelvic pain or fertility concerns.
What is fibroid removal (myomectomy)?
Fibroids (uterine leiomyomas) are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. They are extremely common, affecting approximately 70% of women by age 50, though many cause no symptoms. When fibroids do cause problems — heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, urinary symptoms, or fertility difficulties — treatment may be required.
Myomectomy is the surgical removal of fibroids whilst preserving the uterus, making it the preferred surgical option for women who wish to maintain fertility or who wish to keep their uterus. The procedure can be performed laparoscopically (keyhole), hysteroscopically (through the cervix for submucosal fibroids), or via open surgery depending on the size, number and position of the fibroids.
