Why screen this summer?

Most of us don't get baseline blood work until something already feels off. By then, the early warning signs — slowly rising cholesterol, creeping HbA1c, falling ferritin, mild liver enzyme elevation — have been quietly trending in the wrong direction for years.

A single comprehensive blood screen catches almost every reversible problem early: fatty liver before scarring sets in, pre-diabetes before you need medication, iron deficiency before it makes you exhausted, raised LDL before it triggers a cardiac event. Catching these in their reversible phase is dramatically cheaper, easier and more effective than treating them once symptoms arrive.

At £40 — under £1 per marker — there's no good reason not to. Sunday slots available, no referral needed, prompt results, free review of any flagged result. Run by Randox in their dedicated clinical lab. Same test, same lab, same accreditation as you'd get with a £165 private-screen booking elsewhere; just an honest summer price.

Who it's for: anyone over 18. Particularly useful if you haven't had bloods in a year, have a family history of heart disease / diabetes / thyroid problems, are managing weight, drink more than 14 units a week, or just want a clean baseline before the rest of the year. Pregnant patients should book a specialist antenatal screen instead.

Common add-ons

Mention any of these on the day and the phlebotomist will add to your draw — no extra appointment, no extra needle. All processed at the same Randox lab, all results in the same prompt report.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

£40 — that's £125 off the regular £165 price. Promotion valid throughout summer 2026. No subscription required. Pay at booking; no insurance needed.

Do I need to fast?

Yes — a 10-hour fast (water only) gives the cleanest cholesterol, triglyceride and glucose readings. Book a morning slot, fast overnight, eat after the blood draw. Reception confirms fasting on the booking confirmation.

How fast are results?

Sample goes to Randox the same day; report emailed to you promptly once your results are ready. Reference ranges flagged — green means in range, amber/red means out of range.

What if something's flagged?

Free 10-minute GP review to talk you through it. If you want a fuller GP consultation it's £90 — but most patients only need the brief review to understand what an out-of-range result means and what (if anything) to do about it.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. Book directly online via the Setmore link above, walk in for your appointment, leave with the draw done in 5 minutes. Same-week availability including weekends.

Who's it best for?

Anyone over 18 wanting a comprehensive general-health snapshot. Particularly useful if you haven't had bloods in over a year, you have a family history of heart disease / diabetes / thyroid problems, you're managing weight, you drink more than 14 units a week, or you just want a clean baseline before the rest of the year. Not a substitute for antenatal screening if pregnant.

Can I add other tests?

Yes — see the add-ons table above. Common ones are HbA1c (£26), Ferritin (£26), Vitamin D (£38), Thyroid panel (£29) and a Hormone panel (£39). Mention on the day or call ahead to add to your booking.

Why so much cheaper than the £165 price?

Summer is our quietest season for blood-screening capacity. Rather than leave slots empty, we're running The Summer Screening at near-cost to make general-health screening accessible. Same Randox lab, same accredited phlebotomy, same clinical-grade panel — just a much better price than you'll find anywhere else this summer.

Where do I go?

The Vesey Private Hospital, Unit 3, The Courtyard, Reddicap Trading Estate, Sutton Coldfield, B75 7BU. Free on-site parking. About 10 minutes from the M6 / M42 / M6 Toll. Sutton Coldfield rail station is a 5-minute drive.

Where do you take patients from?

Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham city centre, Lichfield, Tamworth, Walsall, Solihull, Erdington, Mere Green, Four Oaks, Streetly, Aldridge, Brownhills, Coleshill, Castle Bromwich and across the West Midlands.
