So there's no surprise on your report, these are not measured as part of the Summer Screening. Each can be added to the same draw for the price shown — no second appointment and no second needle.
- Iron status — ferritin, iron, transferrin saturation and TIBC are not in the panel. Add ferritin £26. (The Full Blood Count reports haemoglobin and red cell size, which can suggest anaemia, but it cannot tell you whether iron is the cause.)
- HbA1c — the 3-month average glucose marker. Add £26.
- Thyroid (TSH, Free T4, Free T3) — add £29.
- Vitamin D £38 and Vitamin B12 £21.
- PSA £29 (men) and hormone panel £39.

Why screen this summer?
Most of us don't get baseline blood work until something already feels off. By then, the early warning signs — slowly rising cholesterol, a drifting fasting glucose, a falling haemoglobin, mild liver enzyme elevation — have often been quietly trending in the wrong direction for years.
A broad blood screen picks up several common problems while they are still reversible: raised liver enzymes before scarring sets in, a fasting glucose heading towards pre-diabetes, anaemia before it wears you down, raised LDL that warrants attention, declining kidney function. Catching these early is cheaper, easier and more effective than treating them once symptoms arrive. It is a screening test, not a diagnosis — an out-of-range result is a prompt for a conversation, not a verdict.
At £40 — about £1.18 per analyte — it's an easy baseline to have. Sunday slots available, no referral needed, prompt results, free review of any flagged result. Run by Randox in their dedicated clinical lab. Same test, same lab, same accreditation as you'd get with a £165 private-screen booking elsewhere; just an honest summer price.
Who it's for: anyone over 18. If you are specifically chasing fatigue, low iron or a thyroid problem, this panel on its own will not answer that — add ferritin (£26) and/or the thyroid panel (£29), or ask us about the Tired All The Time panel instead. Otherwise it's a useful baseline, particularly if you haven't had bloods in a year, have a family history of heart disease / diabetes / thyroid problems, are managing weight, drink more than 14 units a week, or just want a clean baseline before the rest of the year. Pregnant patients should book a specialist antenatal screen instead.
Optional add-ons — not included in the £40
Everything in this table is charged on top of the £40 and is not part of the Summer Screening panel. Mention any of them on the day and the phlebotomist will take them from the same draw — no extra appointment, no extra needle. All processed at the same Randox lab, all results in the same prompt report.

What exactly is included — and what isn't?
Included, 34 analytes across six panels: Full Blood Count (haemoglobin, haematocrit, MCH, MCHC, MCV, red cell count, white cell count, platelets, basophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils); Kidney (creatinine, eGFR, urea, sodium, potassium, chloride, phosphate); Liver (ALP, ALT, AST, GGT, total bilirubin, albumin); Heart (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, cholesterol/HDL ratio, triglycerides); Diabetes (glucose); Inflammation (CRP, hs-CRP).

Does it check my iron levels?
No. There is no iron marker in the £40 panel. The Full Blood Count reports haemoglobin and red cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC), which can suggest anaemia, but it cannot tell you whether iron deficiency is the cause. To check your iron stores, add ferritin for £26 — taken from the same draw, so no second appointment and no second needle.
Do I need to fast?
Yes — a 10-hour fast (water only) gives the cleanest cholesterol, triglyceride and glucose readings. Book a morning slot, fast overnight, eat after the blood draw. Reception confirms fasting on the booking confirmation.
How fast are results?
Sample goes to Randox the same day; report emailed to you promptly once your results are ready. Reference ranges flagged — green means in range, amber/red means out of range.
What if something's flagged?
Free 10-minute GP review to talk you through it. If you want a fuller GP consultation it's £90 — but most patients only need the brief review to understand what an out-of-range result means and what (if anything) to do about it.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Book directly online via the Setmore link above, walk in for your appointment, leave with the draw done in 5 minutes. Same-week availability including weekends.
Who's it best for?
Anyone over 18 wanting a general-health snapshot. Particularly useful if you haven't had bloods in over a year, you have a family history of heart disease / diabetes / thyroid problems, you're managing weight, you drink more than 14 units a week, or you just want a clean baseline before the rest of the year. Not a substitute for antenatal screening if pregnant.

Yes — see the add-ons table above. None of them are in the £40 panel; each is charged on top. Common ones are Ferritin (£26, the iron marker), HbA1c (£26), Vitamin D (£38), Thyroid panel (£29) and a Hormone panel (£39). Mention on the day or call ahead to add to your booking.
Why so much cheaper than the £165 price?
Summer is our quietest season for blood-screening capacity. Rather than leave slots empty, we're running The Summer Screening at near-cost to make general-health screening accessible. Same Randox lab, same accredited phlebotomy, same clinical-grade panel — just a much better price than you'll find anywhere else this summer.
