GP consultation
Two simple options
Pick what fits — a single dose or a loading course.
Whether you're topping up energy after a heavy training block, treating confirmed deficiency, or maintaining levels after pernicious anaemia, the right number of injections depends on your situation. The free GP consultation gets that right before you spend.
Single injection
£50per dose
Best for maintenance, top-ups, or trying a single dose to see how you respond. Hydroxocobalamin into the deltoid — takes about 2 minutes.
Best value
Loading dose — 3 injections
£100for 3 (save £50 vs. £150)
Standard course for confirmed B12 deficiency — three injections close together (often on alternate days) to replenish your stores, then maintenance every 8–12 weeks. The GP will confirm whether this is right at the free consultation.
Should I consider B12 injections?
It's worth asking if you have any of:
- Persistent fatigue, brain fog, restless legs, pins and needles, or mouth ulcers
- A vegan / strict vegetarian diet
- Long-term use of metformin or acid-suppressants (PPIs / H2 blockers)
- Pernicious anaemia, atrophic gastritis, or coeliac disease
- Past bariatric surgery or other gut surgery affecting absorption
- A recent blood test showing a low or borderline B12 level
The free GP consultation confirms whether injections are appropriate. If they're not, you've paid nothing and the GP will explain the next best step.
How it works
Free GP consultation first — then the injection at a follow-up visit, after a cooling-off period.
1
Book the free GP consultation
15–20 minutes with a GP. Bring any recent blood results (B12, folate, full blood count) if you have them, plus a list of current medications.
2
Confirm it's right for you
The GP reviews your symptoms, history, and any results — and decides whether a single dose, a loading dose course, or no injection at all (with another plan) is appropriate.
3
Injection at a booked follow-up visit
If you're going ahead, we book your injection visit with the GP or our nurse after a cooling-off period, so you have time to consider the consent information. £50 per dose, or £100 for the loading-dose bundle. Brief observation period, then you're done.
Common questions
The questions patients ask before booking.
What does the free initial consultation include?
A focused GP appointment to confirm B12 injections are appropriate — covering your symptoms, any recent blood results, current medications, and whether a loading dose is indicated. If suitable, your injection visit is booked after a cooling-off period (charged separately at £50, or £100 for a loading dose of 3).
How much is each injection?
£50 per Vitamin B12 (hydroxocobalamin) injection. If a loading dose is indicated, three injections cost £100 total (saving £50).
What's a loading dose and do I need one?
For confirmed B12 deficiency, NHS guidance recommends a short loading-dose course — typically 3 injections close together (often on alternate days) to replenish stores, followed by maintenance every 8–12 weeks. The GP advises whether a loading dose is right for you at the free initial consultation.
Do I need to have my B12 tested first?
Not strictly. Many patients book on symptoms (fatigue, brain fog, restless legs, pins and needles, mouth ulcers) or because they're on long-term metformin / acid-suppressants, or on a vegan/vegetarian diet. Bring any recent B12, folate or full blood count results if you have them. If a blood test would help the decision, the GP will say so.
Are the injections painful?
A small intramuscular injection into the upper arm — most patients describe a brief sting and mild soreness for an hour or two. Side effects are uncommon; rare allergic reactions are why every injection is given in a CQC-regulated GP-led clinic, not at a beauty bar.
How quickly will I feel a difference?
For true B12 deficiency, many patients notice improved energy within 1–2 weeks of the loading dose. For mild symptoms on a borderline result, the picture is less predictable and the GP will set honest expectations at your consultation.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. The Vesey is a CQC-regulated private clinic and you can book direct.
How was the price reduced?
Previously £60 per dose. We've made the initial GP consultation free, dropped the per-injection price to £50, and added a £100 loading-dose bundle (3 for £100) so patients with confirmed deficiency get a clinically meaningful course at a fairer price.
