Private PRP Joint Injection in Sutton Coldfield
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection for joint pain, tendon injuries and sports injuries. Not available on NHS. From £600. Same-week consultant. Published price.
What is prp joint injection?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy uses a preparation derived from the patient's own blood to promote healing of tendons, ligaments, and joints. A blood sample is taken, centrifuged to concentrate the platelets (which contain growth factors), and the resulting plasma is injected into the injured or painful tissue.
PRP is used for tendinopathies (including Achilles and patellar tendinopathy), lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), knee osteoarthritis, and other musculoskeletal conditions where promoting tissue healing and reducing inflammation is beneficial. It is not currently available on the NHS. Evidence is growing, with multiple studies showing superior outcomes to cortisone for certain tendinopathies, particularly over the longer term.

What happens at The Vesey
From your first consultation to discharge — here is what to expect at every stage.
Consultant assessment
Review of the condition, imaging, and previous treatment history. Discussion of the evidence for PRP in your specific diagnosis.
Blood preparation
A blood sample is taken and centrifuged to concentrate the platelets. The process takes approximately 15–20 minutes.
PRP injection
The prepared PRP is injected into the target tissue under ultrasound guidance for precise placement. The procedure takes approximately 20–30 minutes in total.
Aftercare
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications for 2 weeks after PRP as they may reduce the treatment effect. Rest from strenuous activity for 3–5 days.
Recovery — what to expect
Soreness at the injection site for 3–7 days is common. Improvement typically begins at 4–6 weeks with maximum benefit at 3 months. A course of 2–3 injections at 4–6 week intervals is often recommended.
Your consultant will provide you with a personalised recovery plan at your assessment appointment, based on your individual procedure, health status, and activity requirements.
