Know where you stand with your blood sugar
HbA1c shows your average blood sugar over the past three months, while glucose, insulin and C-peptide reveal how your body is handling it. Together they help a clinician identify or rule out diabetes, prediabetes and insulin resistance. £154 · clinician-reviewed results · CQC-regulated.
From prediabetes to peace of mind
Type 2 diabetes often develops quietly over years, and prediabetes is reversible when caught early. This panel is a sensible first step if you recognise any of these.
Symptoms of high sugar
Increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, blurred vision or recurrent infections.
Carrying extra weight
A BMI over 25, especially around the middle, raises the risk of insulin resistance.
Family history
A close relative with type 2 diabetes increases your own risk.
PCOS or gestational diabetes
A history of either is strongly linked to later insulin resistance.
Over 45
A sensible age to screen for prediabetes even without symptoms.
A reversible window
You want to catch prediabetes early while lifestyle change can still turn it around.

Understanding your Diabetes Status results
Each result in your Diabetes Status is reviewed by a clinician before release. Below is a plain-English guide to the key markers included in this panel.
HbA1c
The diagnostic gold standard for diabetes. Values ≥48 mmol/mol confirm diabetes; 42–47 mmol/mol indicates pre-diabetes and warrants lifestyle intervention.
Fasting Glucose
Blood glucose measured after an overnight fast. Used alongside HbA1c for diagnosis; ≥7.0 mmol/L on two occasions confirms diabetes.
Fasting Insulin
Where included, helps assess insulin resistance — a raised fasting insulin with normal glucose indicates early metabolic dysfunction.
Reference ranges vary between laboratories and are influenced by age, sex, and other individual factors. This information is for educational purposes only and does not replace a clinical consultation. The Vesey reviews every result before it is released to you.
