UK blood pressure ranges

Low — under 90/60

Often normal, especially if you feel well. Worth mentioning to a clinician if you regularly feel dizzy or faint.

Healthy — 90/60 to 120/80

The ideal range for most adults. A periodic check is the simplest way to catch any change early.

Slightly raised — up to 140/90

At the top of the range or a little above. A good moment to retest over a week or two and get a baseline.

High — 140/90 or higher

Common and very manageable. Worth confirming with a proper assessment as home and clinic readings can differ.

Very high — 180/120 or higher

Needs prompt advice even if you feel well. Contact NHS 111 — or call 999 if symptoms are severe.

How to measure well

Sit still for five minutes first, feet flat, arm supported at heart height, and take two readings a minute apart.
