Functional medicine in Sutton Coldfield
A root-cause, whole-person approach to symptoms that don’t fit neatly into one specialty — fatigue, digestive issues, hormonal imbalance, poor sleep or unexplained changes in how you feel. Delivered by The Vesey’s own GPs, with a longer consultation to look at diet, sleep, stress and history together, and targeted testing where it helps. From £170, no referral needed.
Some symptoms don’t point clearly at one organ or one specialist — persistent tiredness, digestive discomfort, low mood, disrupted sleep, or a general sense that something isn’t right even when a single test comes back normal. Functional medicine at The Vesey is a longer, more joined-up GP consultation built for exactly this: time to take a full history, look at how different systems interact, and agree a plan — with targeted testing where it genuinely adds information.

How it works
A 40-minute appointment with one of our GPs — £170. Book online, no referral needed.
Diet, sleep, stress, symptoms, family history and how they connect — not just the presenting complaint.
Arranged the same visit where it will genuinely change the plan — never testing for its own sake.
A written plan covering lifestyle, any treatment, and a follow-up review to track progress.
Frequently asked questions
What is functional medicine?
An approach that looks for the underlying, whole-person cause of symptoms — gut health, hormones, sleep, stress, nutrition and inflammation — rather than treating each symptom in isolation. It sits alongside, not instead of, conventional diagnosis and treatment.
Is functional medicine the same as alternative medicine?
No. At The Vesey it is delivered by our GPs using conventional, evidence-based investigations — blood tests, examination and clinical history — with more time to look at the whole picture. It is not a replacement for urgent or specialist care.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Book directly. Bring any recent blood test results, medication lists or previous GP letters if you have them.
What does an extended consultation involve?
A 40-minute appointment with one of our GPs covering your full history — diet, sleep, stress, symptoms and family history — followed by a personalised plan and, where useful, targeted blood testing.
Does insurance cover this?
Many insurers cover private GP consultations in the same way as a standard appointment — check your policy, as cover and any pre-authorisation requirements vary by provider.
