What is reproductive health? Reproductive health involves looking after a women's reproductive health through out the cycles of their life. Different life stages come with different changes to the female body. From menstruation, fertility, contraception, pregnancy and menopause to issues that may affect a woman in that period of time, such as endometriosis, fibroids and ovarian cysts.
What it is
Our consultant team and women's-health GPs cover contraception choice and fitting (including Mirena IUS and copper IUD), pre-conception health optimisation, irregular cycles, painful periods, premenstrual syndrome, sexual health screening, and the transition into peri-menopause.
When this is relevant
- Contraception review - new start, switching, removal or device replacement.

Structured history, examination as appropriate, hormone profile, AMH, pelvic ultrasound, STI panel, smear, vitamin D / B12 / thyroid screen depending on focus.

What contraception options does The Vesey offer? +
We offer the full range: Mirena IUS (hormonal coil), copper IUD, contraceptive implant, injectable contraception, and prescriptions for the combined pill, progesterone-only pill, patch and ring. Fitting procedures are carried out by our experienced gynaecology team in a comfortable clinical setting.
How do I prepare for a pre-conception appointment? +
Bring a list of any current medications, your last menstrual period date, and any known medical conditions in yourself or your partner. We will check folic acid status, vitamin D, rubella immunity, HbA1c where indicated, and review vaccination status. The appointment covers optimising your health before you start trying.
Can I have a smear test done at The Vesey? +
Yes. Cervical screening is available at The Vesey as a same-appointment service alongside your consultation. If your smear result is abnormal or you have a persistent HPV result, colposcopy is available from our consultant team, usually within the same week.
What is the difference between a women's-health GP and a consultant gynaecologist? +
A women's-health GP is ideal for contraception, smears, pre-conception planning, sexual health, and general reproductive wellness. A consultant gynaecologist is appropriate for surgical conditions (fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, prolapse), complex menstrual disorders, infertility work-up, and any situation that may need operative intervention. We will direct you to the right clinician at booking.
