Private Tonsillectomy in Sutton Coldfield
Tonsillectomy for recurrent tonsillitis, obstructive sleep apnoea and peritonsillar abscess. Children from £2,500, adults from £2,800. Same-week ENT consultant.
What is tonsillectomy?
Tonsillectomy is the surgical removal of the palatine tonsils, performed under general anaesthesia. It is most commonly performed for recurrent tonsillitis — when a patient experiences frequent episodes of bacterial tonsil infection that significantly affect quality of life — and for obstructive sleep apnoea, where enlarged tonsils obstruct the airway during sleep.
The procedure takes approximately 30–45 minutes. Modern tonsillectomy techniques including cold steel dissection, coblation, and electrocautery allow the experienced ENT surgeon to minimise bleeding and post-operative pain. NHS waiting lists for tonsillectomy now exceed 18 months in many areas — private treatment at The Vesey provides access within weeks.
