Why screen this autumn?
Most of us don't get baseline blood work until something already feels off. By then, the early warning signs — slowly rising cholesterol, a drifting fasting glucose, a falling haemoglobin, mild liver enzyme elevation — have often been trending in the wrong direction for months.
A broad blood screen picks up several common problems while they are still reversible: raised liver enzymes before scarring sets in, a fasting glucose heading towards pre-diabetes, anaemia before it wears you down, raised LDL that warrants attention, and declining kidney function. Catching these early is cheaper, easier and more effective than treating them once symptoms arrive. It is a screening test, not a diagnosis — an out-of-range result is a prompt for a conversation, not a verdict, which is exactly why every result is clinician-checked.
Who it's for: anyone over 18. Particularly useful if you haven't had bloods in a year, have a family history of heart disease / diabetes / thyroid problems, are managing weight, drink more than 14 units a week, or just want a clean baseline before winter. Pregnant patients should book a specialist antenatal screen instead.

What happens with my results?
Your results go through our normal process: a clinician reviews your report and checks every abnormal result. If there's anything to discuss, we'll call you. Want to talk it through in more detail? You can book a GP follow-up appointment — £50 for 20 minutes.
Do I need to fast?
Yes — a 10-hour fast (water only) gives the cleanest cholesterol, triglyceride and glucose readings. Book a morning slot, fast overnight, eat after the blood draw. Reception confirms fasting on the booking confirmation.
How is this different from the Summer Screening?
The Autumn Screening covers the Randox Acute Medical Panel 1 (HSC3) — 22 markers across Full Blood Count, Kidney, Liver, Heart and Diabetes — at £99. The Summer Screening promotion (the smaller Basic Screen panel) has ended.
