Why screen your heart now?

Heart disease is the UK's biggest killer — and it’s almost entirely preventable when caught early.

Every five minutes, someone in the UK has a heart attack. Most have no symptoms beforehand. Half of all sudden cardiac deaths happen in people considered "low risk" on traditional scoring. A modern cardiac screen looks beyond risk-factor calculators — it shows you what your heart is actually doing today.

The British Heart Foundation estimates one in four UK adults over 40 has undetected heart disease. The good news: most of it — high blood pressure, cholesterol, early valve disease, atrial fibrillation, an enlarged left ventricle — is treatable, reversible, or manageable when found early. The screening that picks it up is the one in this package.

What's in the package

Three layers of cardiac assessment — the way a cardiologist would do it.

An ECG alone tells you about heart rhythm. Bloods alone tell you about risk markers. An echo alone tells you about heart structure. Combine all three and you get a complete picture — electrical, biochemical, and structural — that no single test gives in isolation. That's why this package costs £499 instead of £800 piecemeal.

1
First 30 minutes
ECG + Cardiac blood panel
A 30-minute appointment with a senior Health Advisor. We perform a 12-lead resting ECG (recording the electrical activity of every heartbeat across 12 angles) and draw blood for a complete cardiac risk panel.
  • Lipid Profile: Total Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Total Cholesterol/HDL Ratio, Triglycerides
  • Kidney Health: Creatinine, eGFR, Calcium (Adjusted), Chloride, Magnesium, Phosphate, Potassium, Sodium, Urea
  • Resting blood pressure & oxygen saturation
  • Detailed cardiac history review
2
Next 30 minutes · Consultant-led
Echocardiogram
A transthoracic echocardiogram performed by Donie, our Cardiac Technician, and reported by Dr Sunil Nadar, Consultant Cardiologist. Ultrasound imaging shows your heart muscle and all four valves beating in real time — the only test that gives a true structural assessment of your heart.
  • Left and right ventricular function
  • All four valves assessed for narrowing or leakage
  • Atrial size & pressure estimate
  • Pericardial assessment
  • Wall motion analysis
  • Full consultant-written report
3
Book on the day of your Echo · 40 minutes
40-minute Private GP follow-up
Book your GP appointment on the same day as your Echo. The consultation itself takes place once your bloods are back and Dr Nadar’s written echo report is ready — walking you through every finding, answering questions, and agreeing any next steps: medication, lifestyle, repeat screening, or onward referral if needed.
  • Personalised heart-health plan
  • Written summary letter (yours to keep)
  • Optional copy to your NHS GP
  • 40 minutes — not a five-minute review
  • No follow-up upsell pressure

Who should book this

If any of these apply, this screening could change the next 20 years of your life.

Heart disease doesn’t care about your age, fitness, or BMI alone. It cares about the cumulative effect of factors that are mostly invisible until they aren’t. If you tick even one of these boxes, it’s worth knowing where you stand.

You're 40 or olderRisk doubles every decade after 40, even with no symptoms.
Family history of heart diseaseParent or sibling with heart attack, sudden death, or valve disease.
High blood pressure or cholesterolEither currently on medication or recently flagged.
Chest pain, breathlessness, or palpitationsEven occasional — especially with exertion.
Starting an intense fitness regimeMarathon training, masters sport, or boxing? Get screened first.
Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetesDoubles cardiovascular risk — routine screening recommended.
Smoker or recent ex-smokerCardiac damage may be silent for years after quitting.
You just want to knowPeace of mind is the most common reason patients book.
Why £499 is exceptional value

Compare what you get in this package to other private heart checks.

A standalone consultant-led echocardiogram alone is typically £450–£550 privately in the West Midlands. Add the ECG, the cardiac blood panel and a GP review and you’re at £800+. This summer, you get the whole assessment for £499.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you might be wondering, answered.

What exactly is included for the £499?

A 30-minute appointment with a Health Advisor for a 12-lead resting ECG and a cardiac blood panel — Lipid Profile (Total Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Total Cholesterol/HDL Ratio, Triglycerides) plus Kidney Health (Creatinine, eGFR, Calcium (Adjusted), Chloride, Magnesium, Phosphate, Potassium, Sodium, Urea) — immediately followed by a 30-minute Echocardiogram performed by Donie, our Cardiac Technician, and reported by Dr Sunil Nadar, Consultant Cardiologist. You book your 40-minute private GP follow-up on the day of the Echo; the consultation itself takes place once your bloods and Dr Nadar’s echo report are ready. You also receive a written summary letter you can share with your NHS GP.

How is this different to a £99 "heart check"?

Cheap heart checks typically include an ECG and a basic cholesterol blood test only. They do not include an echocardiogram — the single most informative cardiac test — and they don’t include consultant cardiologist input. An echocardiogram is the only test that can detect structural problems like valve disease, heart-muscle weakness or chamber enlargement, which are often silent until they cause major problems.

Who performs the echocardiogram?

The echocardiogram is performed by Donie, our Cardiac Technician, who discusses the images with you in real time during the scan. The echo report is then prepared and signed by Dr Sunil Nadar, Consultant Cardiologist, whose written report forms the basis of your GP follow-up consultation.

Do I need to fast or stop my usual medications?

No fasting required. Take your usual medications as normal. Just bring a list of what you’re on so the results can be interpreted accurately. Wear something easy to remove from the upper body for the echo.

How quickly will I get my results?

Donie talks you through the images during the scan. You book your 40-minute GP follow-up appointment on the same day as the Echo; the consultation takes place once your bloods are back and Dr Nadar’s written echo report is ready.

What happens if something abnormal is found?

Minor findings (e.g. mildly raised cholesterol) are addressed in the GP follow-up with a clear plan. More significant findings get a fast-tracked referral to a consultant for further investigation. We do not upsell or pressure you — the plan is whatever is clinically appropriate, and you choose how to take it forward.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. The Vesey is a CQC-regulated private clinic and you can book direct. If you’d like us to send the results to your NHS GP, just give us their details on the day.

When is this offer available?

Until 31 August 2026. After 31 August 2026 the package reverts to standard pricing (£800+). We open 7 days a week including Sundays, 8am–8pm. Limited cardiologist slots — book early to secure your preferred date.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All major debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and bank transfer. Some patients pay via private medical insurance — we accept AXA, Bupa, Vitality, Cigna, WPA and others, though promotional pricing may not apply to insurance-funded bookings. Contact us before booking if you’d like to use insurance.

Can I bring my partner / book together?

Yes — book back-to-back slots and both appointments qualify for the £499 price. Just book them as separate appointments online, or call 0121 387 3727 and we’ll arrange consecutive slots. Bringing a family member or partner is often the moment people finally get this done.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Cancellations or reschedules with more than 48 hours’ notice are free. Inside 48 hours we charge a £50 administration fee to cover the cardiologist’s reserved time. You can reschedule online or by calling us.
