The paediatric junior formulation (Havrix Junior Monodose) is licensed for children aged 1 to 15 years inclusive. It contains a lower antigen dose (720 ELISA Units) compared to the adult formulation (1440 ELISA Units). Children aged 16 and over should receive the adult dose.

Children aged 16 and over should receive the standard adult dose of hepatitis A vaccine. At The Vesey we will always confirm the appropriate formulation for your child's age and weight at the time of the appointment, and we offer both junior and adult formulations.
How many doses does my child need for full hepatitis A protection?
Two doses are required: an initial dose followed by a booster 6–12 months later. The initial dose provides protection for 1–2 years; after the booster this extends to at least 20 years. Both doses should be in the same formulation (junior) unless the child turns 16 before the booster is due.
