Choose your gut test
Gut Microbiome Test
Maps 10 groups of microbes living in your gut, from butyrate producers to fungi and viruses.
H. pylori Stool Antigen Test
Checks for a current Helicobacter pylori infection, a common cause of indigestion and stomach ulcers.
QFIT (Faecal Immunochemical Test)
Measures tiny amounts of blood in the stool to help decide whether bowel investigation is needed.
Faecal Elastase
Measures pancreatic elastase, a marker of how well the pancreas produces digestive enzymes.
Which test answers your question?
There is no single gut test. Clinical tests answer specific questions: QFIT for hidden bleeding, H. pylori for indigestion and ulcers, and faecal elastase for fat malabsorption. The microbiome test describes the microbes in your gut but does not diagnose a condition.

Why test with The Vesey
Alongside the microbiome test we offer the stool tests GPs use: FIT for hidden blood, faecal elastase for pancreatic function and the H. pylori stool antigen test.
You collect your kit and instructions from our team at The Vesey in Sutton Coldfield and can ask questions face to face, rather than ordering a kit online and working it out alone.
A GP reviews any result outside the normal range. You can book a follow-up GP or dietetics appointment here, and we can refer you to a gastroenterologist if needed.
A gut test is never a reason to wait. If you have bleeding, weight loss, a lasting change in bowel habit or difficulty swallowing, we tell you to see a doctor promptly.
Gut health FAQs
Which gut test should I choose?
It depends on your symptoms. QFIT (£50) checks for hidden blood in the stool, the H. pylori stool test (£70) checks for a stomach infection linked to indigestion and ulcers, faecal elastase (£120) checks how well the pancreas makes digestive enzymes, and the gut microbiome test (£200) maps the microbes in your gut. If you are unsure, book a free call with a Health Advisor or a GP appointment.
Are these tests a substitute for seeing a doctor?
No. If you have red-flag symptoms such as bleeding, weight loss or a lasting change in bowel habit, see a doctor promptly rather than waiting for a test.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book and pay online without a referral.
How do I collect the sample?
At your appointment our team gives you the kit and walks you through the instructions. You collect a small stool sample at home using the kit and return it to The Vesey as instructed, and we send it to the laboratory.
