How we assess and investigate
The vascular surgery consultation begins with a full vascular history and examination including assessment of peripheral pulses, ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI), and venous assessment. Duplex ultrasound of the venous and arterial systems is arranged to map reflux, stenosis, and occlusion. CT angiography is coordinated for complex peripheral arterial disease or aneurysm assessment. Venous pressure studies and plethysmography are available via specialist centre.
