Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

How is this different from the standard Endocrinology Panel?
It includes everything in the standard 13-marker panel — full thyroid function with antibodies plus reproductive and androgen hormones — and adds five more: AMH for ovarian reserve, cortisol and DHEAS for adrenal hormones, and insulin and HbA1c for blood-sugar context. That's 18 markers in total, our most comprehensive hormone screen.
What does AMH tell me?
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) reflects your ovarian reserve — roughly, the remaining pool of eggs. It's often used in fertility assessment: a very low level may indicate reduced reserve, while a high level can be seen in PCOS. A clinician interprets it alongside the rest of your results.
Does the timing of the test matter?
It can. Some reproductive hormones vary across the menstrual cycle and cortisol varies with the time of day, so a morning appointment and a known cycle day help interpretation. Our team will advise on timing when you book, and a clinician takes it into account.
How long do results take?
We process your sample promptly and contact you as soon as your clinician-reviewed results are ready — turnaround varies by test. Every result is reviewed by a clinician who explains anything outside the normal range with clear guidance.
Do I need a GP referral?
No referral is needed. You can book directly online or by calling 0121 387 3727. Same-week appointments are available 7 days a week, 8am to 8pm.

Understanding your Endocrinology Plus results

Each result in your Endocrinology Plus is reviewed by a clinician before release. Below is a plain-English guide to the key markers included in this panel.

Key Biomarkers

This panel assesses the key markers relevant to endocrinology plus. Each result is reviewed by a clinician who will flag any values outside the expected range for your age and sex.

Reference Ranges

Reference intervals are population-derived and should be interpreted alongside your symptoms and clinical history — a result within range does not always exclude pathology, and a mildly out-of-range result may be clinically insignificant in isolation.

Reference ranges vary between laboratories and are influenced by age, sex, and other individual factors. This information is for educational purposes only and does not replace a clinical consultation. The Vesey reviews every result before it is released to you.
