Can I use my Bupa cover at The Vesey?
Yes. The Vesey in Sutton Coldfield is approved to see Bupa members, and we bill Bupa directly for treatment they have authorised. Bupa approves providers service by service, so before you book we check that the consultation, test or scan you need is covered for you. Speak to your GP first, ask Bupa for a pre-authorisation code, then book with us quoting your membership number and that code.

Bupa asks most members to see a GP first. Ask for an open referral if you would like to choose The Vesey yourself.

Call Bupa or use the My Bupa app. Bupa checks your cover and gives you a pre-authorisation code.

Come in, we claim
Bring your membership card and code. We send the bill to Bupa and collect only your excess, if you have one.
What to have ready
- Your Bupa membership number

- Your GP referral letter, if Bupa asked for one
- Photo ID and a list of any medicines you take
What you pay
- Nothing upfront for covered care. We send the bill to Bupa for treatment they have authorised.
- Your excess. If your policy has an excess, we collect it from you and Bupa pays the rest.
- Anything outside your cover. If a fee is above your benefit limit or a service is not covered, we tell you the cost before you go ahead.
- No authorisation, no claim. If you are seen without an authorisation code, you may have to pay the full fee yourself.

How do I get a Bupa pre-authorisation code?
Contact Bupa by phone or through the My Bupa app after you have seen your GP. Have your membership number, when your symptoms started, when you saw your GP and what your GP recommended. Bupa checks your cover and gives you a code to give to us.
Do I need a GP referral to use my Bupa cover?
Most Bupa policies ask you to see a GP first. If your GP does not name a specialist, ask for an open referral; you can then choose to be seen at The Vesey, subject to your cover.
Are blood tests covered by Bupa?
Blood tests a specialist or GP requests as part of an authorised claim may be covered. Routine check-up tests usually are not, unless your policy includes a health assessment. Ask Bupa, or see our self-pay blood tests.
What happens if I am seen without pre-authorisation?
Bupa may not pay, and you could be responsible for the full fee. Always get your code before your appointment.
